This deep, easily accessible lake is best fished by boat. Some bank fishing is possible at nearby Peaks-Kenny State Park, but as with most of Maine’s large lakes, it is generally impractical and usually not very productive. The daily limit on landlocked salmon is one fish. Peaks-Kenny State Park offers lakeside camping amid great scenery. This park is never crowded. Sebec Lake is an eleven-mile long lake located in scenic Piscataquis County, about one hour from the Greenville/Moosehead region. Sebec Village is nestled at the easternmost end of Sebec Lake. Located between Dover-Foxcroft to the west and Milo to the east, the town is connected to both of these areas by Maine Routes 6 and 16, and by the Piscataquis River. Sebec lake offers excellent fishing and boating, with swimming, hiking, biking and other recreational opportunities also available in the area. Sebec Village is home to The Sebec Village Shops, a year round market that offers an eclectic array of gifts, groceries and plants, as well as a post office, UPS pick-up, fax and copy service. A café also offers delicious made to order breakfasts and lunches throughout the year, and dinner is served during the summer months only. The village also hosts an Old Fashioned 4th of July with a parade, horseshoe tournament, road race and barbecue. Spectacular Mount Katahdin and Baxter State Park are an easy day trip from Sebec Lake, and the Maine coastline is a few hours away.
