Province Lake Description

Less than 3 percent of this border lake occurs in the State of Maine. This shallow sandy pond supports relatively sparse beds of aquatic vegetation, which predominantly located in the northwestern portion of the lake. The lack of aquatic plants and other types of fish structure limit the abundance of above listed principle fish species. Furthermore, the lack of suitable coldwater habitat significantly reduces opportunities to manage for coldwater fisheries. Province Lake is best managed for warmwater fisheries.
Traditional boat access occurs at a gravel launch located on off Route 153 in New Hampshire, just beyond the Maine State line.
