Season: April 1 to October 31 Try fishing streamers in the big pools by the bridge and also at the pool below the small falls downstream. This has been most productive for me. You will have luck fishing dries at dusk, especially elk wing caddis and blue-wing olives, sizes 14-16. As the season goes on you may find better luck with nymph patterns, however, as I mentioned before, fish the Pleasant before the month of July as fishing slows considerably then.
Pleasant River Description
This high-quality trout stream is not far from Portland, Maine’s largest city. The idyllic setting is the kind you see on calendars: glassy runs, tumbling riffles, ferns growing along the bank, and ancient maple trees spreading their limbs over quiet pools. For the most part, the Pleasant River is easily waded. In spite of streamside brush and obstructions, some bank fishing is possible. Milo is situated in the south-eastern part of Piscataquis County, 13 miles north-east of Dover, and 40 miles from Bangor. The Piscataquis River and the Bangor and Piseataquis Railway run through the town east and west. Pleasant River from the north, and Sebec River from the north-west form a junction with the Piscataquis in the midst of the town. The Pleasant River flows south through the town from Brownville to join the Piscataquis.
Pleasant River is a relatively short river in Oxford County, Maine in the United States. It is a tributary of the Androscoggin River, which flows east and south to join the Kennebec River in Merrymeeting Bay near the Atlantic Ocean.
