Meadow Pond is a small shallow, weedy pond with a large population of small white perch. Regional Fishery Biologists introduced largemouth bass into Meadow Pond in 1991 and 1992 after an interest was shown by the Islesboro Fish and Game Club to establish a freshwater sport fishery on the island.
Although the habitat is better suited for largemouth bass, a smallmouth bass was caught in 1992, a possible introduction via the bait pail. The smallmouth bass population is expected to remain low, while largemouth bass should provide a good sport fishery.
