The shoreline of this pond is well developed with seasonal and year round homes, typical of ponds in York County. The pond thermally stratifies during the summer months, but areas below 30 feet deep are deficient in oxygen. Despite this limitation there is suitable water quality to support a coldwater fishery. Horne Pond is managed for cold and warmwater fisheries. Brown and brook trout fisheries are
sustained through an annual maintenance
stocking program. There is insufficient
spawning and nursery habitat to allow either species of trout to become self-sustaining. The presence of competing warmwater fish and somewhat limited water quality compromise trout management efforts. Boat access is available at a privately owned camp ground located off the North Road.
Public access accommodations are tentative and could be terminated in the future. There is a need to secure permanent public access provisions to this pond.
