The shoreline of this small, unusually deep pond is
well developed with seasonal and year round homes,
typical of ponds in York County. The pond
thermally stratifies during the summer months and
provides very good water quality for coldwater
fisheries. Deer pond is managed for coldwater
fisheries.
Brown and brook trout are stocked annually to
maintain a coldwater fishery. Rainbows were
stocked by a private club on one occasion. The presence of competing warmwater fish compromises efforts to manage trout fisheries. Largemouth bass
have recently become established as a result of an illegal introduction. This new predator may further negatively impact trout management efforts.
Public boat access is limited to a Town owned gravel ramp located off Route 117, at the south end of the pond. The launch accommodates only small trailered boats and parking is very limited.
