Cain Pond is a small shallow pond that supports an abundant growth of aquatic vegetation. This type of habitat is ideal for largemouth bass.
The original survey suggested that if there was sufficient local interest that the Department should stock largemouth bass. In 1979, seventy-nine largemouth bass were transferred from Johnson Pond (a disease free source) to Cain Pond. This introduction established and now provides an excellent bass fishery, both summer and winter.
